William Mac Davis
Windstar Fanfare
(3 tpt, 4 hn, 3 tbn, tuba)
Inspired by the mountainous landscape of Colorado's Windstar Land Conservancy, composer William Mac Davis composed this modern fanfare in 2006. Descending fourths and ascending fifths form the basis of the main motive, stated first as a fanfare and then transformed into a five-voice fugue. The energy then builds toward a powerful and majestic climax. Dallas Wind Symphony Fanfare Contest Winner. Grade 5.
