Flurry

Short, dramatic fanfare for Concert Band. Flourishes of woodwind 16th notes and flashy mallet percussion after a brassy opening.  Flurry develops momentum with added layers: harmonically, linearly and through use of rhythmic hemiola.

Commissioned in 2010 by Las Cruces High School (Trae Blanco, conductor) and premiered at the New Mexico Music Educator's Association All-State Conference in Albuquerque, NM in January of 2011.
